Ten people are facing multiple charges following a major Beaverton drug trafficking charges investigation by Durham Regional Police.
Last fall, officers began noticing increased drug activity and related incidents in Beaverton. In response, police increased patrols, conducted R.I.D.E. programs, and attended local events to monitor activity.
Members of the North Division Community Response Unit and Criminal Investigations Branch later launched an in-depth investigation known as Project Expanse, targeting illegal drug trafficking in the community.
As a result of the investigation, 10 individuals were arrested. Police completed 31 compliance checks, laid 40 provincial offence notices, and executed one Controlled Drugs and Substances Act warrant.
During the search, officers seized drugs, drug paraphernalia, replica firearms, and ammunition.
The accused face charges ranging from drug possession and trafficking to breaching release conditions.
