Ajax streetlight work is scheduled to begin the week of October 19 on Danton Court, Pittman Crescent and Bolland Crescent, with construction expected to continue through the end of November.
The Town of Ajax has retained Alectra Energy Solutions to replace parts of the buried streetlight system along the three residential streets. The municipal notice says the schedule could change if crews encounter unforeseen conditions.
Underground wiring and poles included
Crews will install underground ducts and wiring serving existing streetlights. Streetlight poles will also be replaced where required, followed by cleanup and restoration of affected work areas.
Residents near the construction zones should expect some dust, noise and temporary inconvenience while the work is underway. Traffic-control measures, including signs and flaggers, will guide drivers and pedestrians around active work areas. Minor delays are possible.
Residents asked to clear the right-of-way
Ajax is asking property owners to remove privately owned items from the municipal right-of-way before construction starts. That includes irrigation equipment, landscaping and other installations that may extend beyond private property.
The town’s notice says it is not responsible for damage to privately owned items placed in the municipal right-of-way. Clearing those items in advance will give crews room to reach buried infrastructure and restore the sites after the work is complete.
If telephone, cable or another private utility service is disrupted during construction, residents are advised to contact their service provider to arrange repairs. The notice says those repairs should be completed at no cost to the resident.
