An Ajax pedestrian collision has resulted in the death of a woman who was struck by a pickup truck while crossing the road last week, Durham Regional Police say.
The collision occurred at approximately 11 a.m. on Thursday at the intersection of Kingston Road West and Ritchie Avenue. Police report that the pedestrian was crossing on the west side of the intersection when she was hit by a pickup truck.
The victim, a 67-year-old woman, was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre, where she later died from her injuries.
Investigators say the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police. The roadway was closed for several hours while officers conducted their investigation. The case remains ongoing.
