Ajax Gas Station Robbery Suspect Arrested after Durham Regional Police responded to a commercial robbery at a gas station early Thursday morning.
According to Durham Regional Police, the incident happened on March 5, 2026, at approximately 7:00 a.m. at the Petro Canada gas station located at 225 Salem Road South in Ajax.
Police say a male suspect entered the gas station and made threatening remarks toward an employee. The suspect then went behind the counter and stole several products before fleeing the scene prior to police arrival.
Fortunately, no employees were physically injured during the robbery.
Officers from the West Division responded to the scene and began searching the surrounding area. A short time later, police were able to locate a suspect nearby and he was taken into custody without further incident.
Investigators later determined that the Ajax Gas Station Robbery Suspect Arrested may also be connected to several other theft incidents in the area.
At the time of his arrest, police discovered that the suspect was already in violation of multiple probation orders related to previous offences. As a result, investigators added numerous additional charges.
Durham Regional Police have identified the accused as Leroy Marufu, 26, of no fixed address.
He is facing several charges, including:

Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000

Obstruct Peace Officer

Theft Under $5000 (five counts)

Fail to Comply with Probation Order (19 counts)
Police say the suspect was arrested and taken into custody following the investigation.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the robbery and any related incidents.
Durham Regional Police are asking anyone who may have cell phone footage, dash cam video, surveillance recordings, or information related to the incident to come forward.
