Ajax Election 2026 races are taking shape as candidates continue registering for mayor, regional council, local council and school board positions ahead of the Aug. 21 nomination deadline.
The Town of Ajax says nominations remain open until 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, when candidates must also withdraw or change the office they are seeking if necessary. The Municipal Clerk will certify nominations following the deadline.
Voting will be conducted online and by telephone from Oct. 19 at 10 a.m. until Oct. 26 at 8 p.m.
Mayor’s race taking shape
The supplied Aug. 13 candidate list identifies four people currently seeking the mayor’s office:

- Richard Hinds
- Ashmeed Khan
- Sajid Raza Rehman
Because nominations remain open, additional candidates could still enter the race before Aug. 21.
Regional council contests
Ajax electors will also choose regional councillors representing each of the town’s three wards.
