Southern Ontario is in for a typical early-spring day as the month of April begins, with a forecast of cloudy skies, some scattered showers, and mild temperatures. The forecast from Environment Canada is calling for these conditions throughout much of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), including Oshawa, Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, and Niagara Falls. The first day of April will start off with cloudy skies but should transition to more variable conditions later in the day.

The morning will be marked by overcast skies, with showers expected in parts of the GTA. Toronto, Mississauga, and Hamilton will see the heaviest cloud cover, which may bring light rain in the early hours. The temperature will remain cool but typical for this time of year, making it important for commuters and residents to dress warmly. The clouds will bring some gloom to the start of the day, setting the stage for a mix of weather throughout the afternoon.

As the day moves into the afternoon, the forecast predicts some clearing. The skies should gradually break, allowing the sun to peek through the clouds in areas like Oshawa and Brampton, though the weather will remain mostly cloudy for much of the region. The north wind will pick up speed, blowing at about 20 km/h, which will add to the chilly feeling during the afternoon hours. With the wind and clouds, the temperature will hover around 7°C in Mississauga, and slightly cooler in areas to the north, such as Oshawa. It will still feel like early spring, so people are advised to dress in layers to stay comfortable.

In the evening, the weather will turn cloudy again, with the possibility of more showers in some areas. The chance of rain will rise to 30% by evening in Niagara Falls, St. Catharines, and Hamilton. Temperatures will dip down to 1°C overnight, which, combined with the persistent cloud cover and wind, may feel colder than it actually is. Those planning to be out in the evening should prepare for cooler conditions, especially in the early morning hours.

Looking ahead, the weather on Thursday, April 2 will remain mostly cloudy, with a 60% chance of showers in the GTA. The temperatures will remain relatively steady, around 7°C, as the region continues to feel the effects of early spring weather. By Friday, April 3, however, the region can expect some warmer conditions, with temperatures rising up to 23°C. This shift to warmer weather will bring some relief from the cooler, rainier start to the week.

Overall, the start of April will be a mixed bag of spring weather. While the day may begin with some gloom, the afternoon will offer brief sunshine before the clouds roll back in. With temperatures remaining mild, this spring day will serve as a reminder that Ontario’s weather can be unpredictable but always worth preparing for.
