A Durham film seminar is inviting residents and business owners to explore how their homes or properties could become filming locations for movies and television productions.

Organized by Film Durham, the upcoming Durham film seminar will take place on April 14 at Parkwood Estate in Oshawa. The free afternoon session is designed to help property owners learn how the film industry scouts and uses real locations for productions.

Durham Region has become a popular destination for film and television projects in recent years. With its historic buildings, unique homes, and diverse landscapes, the region continues to attract production crews looking for distinctive settings.

The Durham film seminar will guide participants through the basics of working with film companies and explain how property owners can market their homes or businesses as potential filming sites.

Industry professionals will discuss topics such as preparing a property for filming, hosting location scouts, and understanding the responsibilities production teams have when using private spaces.

Participants will also learn how to protect their property during filming and what to expect when a production company uses a location for a movie or television project.

By attending the Durham film seminar, residents may discover that their home or business has the unique character or visual appeal that production companies often seek.

Opening a property to filming can also provide financial benefits. Productions often pay location fees and bring additional attention to local businesses and communities.

The seminar will run from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14, at Parkwood Estate in Oshawa. Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet industry experts who will share insights about how to successfully list and promote properties as film locations.

Because space is limited, organizers recommend that participants RSVP by April 12 to secure a spot.

With Durham Region continuing to grow as a filming destination, the Durham film seminar offers residents and business owners a chance to learn how their properties could play a role in future film and television productions.
