Ice cream lovers across Ontario and Durham Region will soon have the chance to enjoy a free treat as Dairy Queen’s Free Cone Day returns on Thursday, March 19.

The annual event, often described by the company as the “official welcome party for spring,” allows customers to receive a free small vanilla soft-serve cone at participating Dairy Queen locations.

The offer is available to DQ Rewards members and can be redeemed either through the DQ mobile app or directly at the register in participating stores across Ontario.

Customers can access the deal by opening the DQ app and navigating to the My DQ Rewards and Deals section, where the promotion will appear on the day of the event.

To redeem the free cone in person, customers simply need to scan the barcode from the app at the register or use the five-digit redemption code provided within the app if the location does not have a scanner.

However, customers should be aware of an important rule when using the code option. Once the code is activated, it must be used within 15 minutes. If the time expires, the deal will no longer be valid and cannot be reissued.

The promotion is limited to one free small vanilla cone per customer, and the deal can only be redeemed once per account in a single transaction.

If friends or family members are visiting together, each person must have their own DQ Rewards account in order to receive a free cone.

In addition to the free ice cream promotion, Dairy Queen locations across Canada will also be participating in a charitable initiative called “Dip It for Kids.”

Through this promotion, customers can add a dipped cone coating for $1, with all proceeds going toward local children’s hospitals through the Children’s Miracle Network.

Funds raised from the campaign will be donated to the children’s hospital foundation serving the community where the purchase was made.

The program also includes Dairy Queen’s Mint Crunchin’ Cookie Dipped Cone, which is part of the charity promotion.

Customers who are not yet part of the DQ Rewards program can register for free by downloading the Dairy Queen mobile app and creating an account before March 19.

With Dairy Queen locations throughout Durham Region and the Greater Toronto Area, the annual event is expected to attract large crowds as residents celebrate the start of spring with a free frozen treat.
