A Pickering fatal crash on January 28, 2026, has left a 57-year-old man dead and a 67-year-old woman in critical condition. Durham police reported that the crash occurred around 7 a.m. near Merritton Road on Kingston Road. A Toyota sedan traveling westbound crossed into the oncoming lanes and collided head-on with a Subaru SUV traveling eastbound.
The driver of the Toyota, a 57-year-old man, was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre where he later died. The woman, a passenger in the Subaru, was also taken to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries and remains in critical condition. The 68-year-old male driver of the Subaru sustained only minor injuries.
