The Guelph Street West closure in Oshawa has been extended to November 23, two weeks beyond the previously announced November 9 end date.
The City’s updated construction notice continues to identify the affected section as Guelph Street West between Olive Avenue and Crerar Avenue. The closure began October 26.
Through traffic remains blocked
No through access will be available for emergency vehicles, the notice says. Road-closure and detour signs are to be posted in accordance with provincial standards.
The work is a storm sewer extension and servicing for the subdivision at 374 Farewell Street. The location and purpose have not changed in the updated notice; the material change is the longer closure period.
New end date replaces earlier timetable
The notice retains its October 22 publication date but now gives November 23 as the end of the work period. All About Durham’s earlier report reflected the November 9 date that appeared in the City’s notice before this update.
Drivers who had planned to resume using the street after November 9 should continue to follow the posted detour. The extension concerns through traffic on this section, rather than a newly announced closure of neighbouring streets.
The City does not provide a reason for the two-week extension in the notice. No cause for the revised timetable is being inferred.
