The Durham film festival will mark its 10th anniversary with three days of screenings and events in Whitby, Ajax and Oshawa from October 22 to 24.
The Durham Region International Film Festival opens at the Centennial Building in Whitby with a red-carpet reception and Hold Onto Me, the feature debut of Cypriot filmmaker Myrsini Aristidou.
Festival moves through three Durham venues
Programming moves to the St. Francis Centre in Ajax on October 23 for a culinary showcase, short films and The Snake, followed by a question-and-answer session with director Jenna Macmillan.
The final day takes place at the Biltmore Theatre in downtown Oshawa. It includes workshops, a shorts program and Take Me Home, directed by Liz Sargent.
An awards ceremony after the final screening will recognize feature, short, documentary and student films. The festival also plans filmmaker discussions and red-carpet photo opportunities.
Film and television summit added
New for 2026, DRIFF and Film Durham are presenting Myth2Market: The Future of Movie Making, a full-day session on technology, ideas and business trends shaping screen production.
DRIFF was founded in 2015 and later established as a non-profit organization. Its programs have included the annual festival, short-film screenings, high-school initiatives and outdoor drive-in events.
The official festival site lists the full schedule and ticket links. This year’s Durham film festival brings its anniversary program to three municipalities.
