The Book Drunkard Festival 2026 is underway in Uxbridge, with author conversations, book launches and literary events scheduled through December 7.
Blue Heron Books owner Shelley MacBeth launched the festival in 2019 for the store’s 30th anniversary. This autumn’s program features more than a dozen authors at the Uxbridge Music Hall, Wooden Sticks Golf Club, Second Wedge, Urban Pantry, the Historic Leaskdale Church, Uxbridge Curling Club and Blue Heron Books.
October author events
Amanda Peters discusses The Birthing Tree with Uzma Jalaluddin on October 14. Judith and Viktor Tinkl launch Wild Tinkls at a free Blue Heron Books event on October 18, while another event that day at Historic Leaskdale Church features Benjamin Lefebvre and Andrea Ezerins.
Emily St. John Mandel appears at Uxbridge Music Hall on October 19. Jody Wilson-Raybould speaks with Jane Philpott at Wooden Sticks on October 21 about The Inbetween Leader, written with Roshan Danesh.
Mary Berg has a dinner event at Urban Pantry and an on-stage conversation October 22. Jackie Morris appears October 25, followed by Patrick deWitt with Terry Fallis on October 26.
November and December lineup
Terry Fallis and Rod Carley are booked at Second Wedge on November 2. Lucy Foley and Linwood Barclay headline a mystery night November 5, and journalist Carol Off appears with Elamin Abdelmahmoud on November 10.
The festival closes December 7 with two appearances by Olympic curler Brad Gushue at the Uxbridge Curling Club.
Tickets include either a signed book or an event voucher, and bundled packages are available. Dates, availability and venue details should be confirmed with Blue Heron Books before attending.
The festival’s name comes from a quotation attributed to author and former Durham resident L.M. Montgomery: “I am simply a book drunkard.”
