The free Ajax Energy Efficiency Expo is bringing home-upgrade advice, equipment demonstrations and electric transportation displays to McLean Community Centre on Saturday, October 3.
The drop-in event runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Community Hall at 95 Magill Drive. Registration is not required.
Heat pumps, solar and home energy tools
A live workshop will demonstrate how modern heat pumps operate, explain their efficiency benefits and outline questions homeowners should consider before an upgrade.
The Home Solar Accelerator will provide guidance on how solar panels, heat pumps, electric-vehicle charging and other efficiency measures can work together. Visitors can ask which improvement may make sense first and learn about available incentives.
Ajax is also launching a Home Energy Toolkit that residents will be able to borrow through Ajax Public Library. Interactive games and challenges at the expo will focus on practical ways to reduce energy use at home and in daily routines.
Electric vehicles and test track included
Lime will operate an e-bike and e-scooter test area where visitors can try the vehicles in a controlled setting and learn about their commuting uses. Local dealerships will display electric vehicles and answer questions about range, charging and incentives.
Pop-up tables from municipalities, Durham Greener Homes and Elexicon Energy will highlight local programs and community initiatives. Exhibits, demonstrations, activities and giveaways are planned throughout the three-hour event.
Regional partners mark efficiency day
The Town of Ajax organized the expo with Ajax Public Library, Elexicon Energy, the City of Pickering, the Town of Whitby, Durham Region, the Atmospheric Fund’s Home Solar Accelerator, Windfall Ecology Centre and local vendors.
Canada’s National Energy Efficiency Day falls on October 7 in 2026. The Ajax event is being held on the preceding Saturday to raise awareness of technologies, policies and programs that can lower energy use.
The Ajax Energy Efficiency Expo is open to residents interested in home improvements, lower energy consumption or electric transportation.
