The first Bowmanville No Frills has opened at 95 Baseline Road West, adding a new discount grocery option and more than 80 jobs to the community.
The store operates as Tim’s No Frills and is owned by Tim Charles, who has nearly a decade of experience with the Loblaw banner. Loblaw announced the opening on October 1.
Store offers daily service and grocery pickup
The Bowmanville location is open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. It provides a full grocery shop with produce and everyday essentials, along with hot chickens and baked goods prepared in the store.
Customers can also use PC Express for pickup and delivery. The location participates in Flashfood, an app that offers discounted food approaching its best-before date, and includes a large seasonal garden centre.
Loblaw said the new store has created more than 80 jobs. Charles has previously worked in stores and communities across Ontario, including Pembroke, Orléans, Stittsville, Windsor and Hamilton.
Opening includes Bowmanville hospital donation
As part of the grand opening, Tim’s No Frills is donating $1,500 to the Bowmanville Hospital Foundation. The foundation supports medical equipment and capital improvements intended to enhance patient care.
The store opening brings a No Frills location directly into Bowmanville for the first time. Other No Frills stores already operate elsewhere in Durham Region, but the Baseline Road West site is the banner’s first in the Bowmanville community.
Canadian Grocer also reported the opening and confirmed the address, employment figure, services and hospital-foundation contribution.
The new Bowmanville No Frills is located west of Bowmanville Avenue, providing another grocery option near the community’s southern commercial area.
