Clarington Council has withdrawn the 1 Veterans Avenue heritage notice that proposed designating the Bowmanville property for architectural and historical value.
The Municipality of Clarington issued the formal withdrawal on September 25. The earlier Notice of Intention to Designate had been made under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act.
Withdrawal made under the Ontario Heritage Act
The municipal notice says council acted under subsection 29(9) of the Act. That provision allows a council to withdraw a notice of intention to designate before a designation bylaw is passed.
The withdrawal means the notice affecting 1 Veterans Avenue is no longer proceeding through that designation process. The municipality did not provide a reason for the decision or describe separate plans for the property.
