The Clarington Waterfront Trail closure between Bennett Road in Bowmanville and Service Road in Newcastle is in effect while municipal crews carry out maintenance.
The Municipality of Clarington announced the temporary closure on September 23. Work is expected to be finished by the end of Thursday, September 24, weather permitting.
Trail users should take alternate routes
The municipality is asking residents to use alternate routes through the local trail network until the affected section reopens. Clarington has not published a precise reopening time.
The closed stretch links parts of the Lake Ontario waterfront through Bowmanville and Newcastle. It is separate from Bennett Road bridge construction and earlier road closures in the area.
Clarington said the maintenance is intended to keep the trail safe, accessible and enjoyable. The notice does not identify a detour or describe the specific work being completed.
