The latest Mitch de Snoo contract will keep the Oshawa-born defender with the Buffalo Bandits for another National Lacrosse League season.
Buffalo announced Friday that de Snoo signed a one-year agreement. The club also signed transition player Scott Dominey to a two-year contract. Both deals were pending league approval.
Oshawa defender led Buffalo in loose balls
De Snoo completed his sixth Bandits season with 11 points, including three goals and eight assists, in 14 games. His 144 loose-ball recoveries led Buffalo and tied him for seventh in the NLL.
Among Bandits defenders, he ranked second in assists and third in goals and points. The numbers reflect a player whose primary work is defensive but who can contribute in transition.
The 33-year-old has played 156 regular-season games over 10 NLL seasons. He has 51 goals, 97 assists, 148 points and 1,359 loose-ball recoveries.
De Snoo holds a place in Bandits history
Buffalo lists de Snoo fifth in franchise history with 120 forced turnovers, seventh with 30 blocked shots and 10th in loose balls. He has also played 18 postseason games, recording 11 points and 140 loose balls.
Before his current Buffalo run, de Snoo played for the Toronto Rock and earned NLL Defensive Player of the Year for 2021-22. His return gives the Bandits continuity after injuries limited him to 14 games.
Contract covers the next season
The one-year term gives the player and club another season to assess fit and performance. League approval is a normal administrative condition for NLL contracts.
Dominey, an Orangeville native selected in the September 15 dispersal draft, received a two-year agreement. He spent the past three seasons with Philadelphia and has 60 points in 77 career NLL games.
