The Oshawa FireWolves home opener for the 2026-27 National Lacrosse League season is set for Friday, November 27, against the Saskatchewan Rush.
Opening faceoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the Tribute Communities Centre in downtown Oshawa. The game will begin the FireWolves’ second season in the city.
Rematch follows difficult first season
Saskatchewan defeated Oshawa 15-10 on the road last season. The FireWolves finished their inaugural Oshawa campaign with a 6-12 record.
General manager and head coach Glenn Clark said the opener will provide an early test against one of the league’s strongest teams. He said the club was not satisfied with last season and expects its roster changes to support a playoff push.
Returning players include forward Alex Simmons, goaltender Doug Jamieson, defenceman Kyle Rubisch and forward Tye Kurtz. The team also added forward Jeff Teat and defenceman Holden Garlent through the NLL dispersal draft.
Full schedule coming September 22
The league’s complete 2026-27 schedule is expected to be released at noon on Tuesday, September 22. The FireWolves have not yet announced when single-game tickets will go on sale.
Fans attending the November 27 opener are scheduled to receive an LED rally towel. Season tickets are already being promoted by the club.
The FireWolves compete in professional box lacrosse as Durham Region’s NLL team. The franchise moved to Oshawa before the 2025-26 season and plays home games at the Tribute Communities Centre.
