Oshawa Civic Recreation access will change for two weeks beginning September 21 while flooring is renewed in portions of the complex’s lower-level main hallway.
The work will affect the routes used to reach the fitness centre, changerooms, squash courts and Civic Dome. The City says the amenities remain available, but visitors will need to use temporary entrances.
Fitness centre and Dome entrances will change
The fitness centre will not be accessible from its usual main-hallway entrance during the project. Users must enter through the centre’s exterior east doors.
The Civic Dome and squash courts will be accessible only through the Dome’s exterior north entrance. The Dome’s changerooms and washrooms will remain open.
Fitness-centre users who need a changeroom or washroom will have to exit the fitness centre and enter through the Dome’s north entrance. They may alternatively use the Universal Change Room near main reception on the upper level.
Pool changeroom access remains available
The lower-level gender-specific changerooms cannot be reached from the main hallway while the flooring work is underway. Pool users will still be able to access those changerooms from the pool deck.
The lower-level Universal Change Room will also remain available, according to the City.
Admission fees must be paid at the main reception desk before visitors proceed to the amenity they are using. People arriving for scheduled programs should leave additional time to pay and reach the temporary entrance.
The project is expected to last two weeks. The City has not announced a full closure of the complex, but visitors should follow signs and staff directions while hallway sections are restricted.
