Orono road closures will affect several downtown streets on Saturday morning as the annual Orono Fair Parade moves toward the fairgrounds.
The Municipality of Clarington says the closures will run from 9 a.m. until noon on September 12. The parade itself is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.
Roads included in the closure
Three sections of the parade route will be closed:
- Mill Lane, from North Mill Lane to Mill Street;
- Mill Street, from Mill Lane to Park Street; and
- Park Street, from Mill Street into the Orono Fairgrounds.
Emergency access will remain available while the restrictions are in place. Drivers who are not attending the parade should allow extra time and use surrounding streets where permitted.
The closures are scheduled to end at noon, although motorists should continue to follow posted signs and directions from event staff while barricades are being removed.
Orono Fair runs through Sunday
The parade is part of the 2026 Orono Fair, which runs from September 10 to 13 at the Orono Fairgrounds. The agricultural fair celebrates rural life and the community’s farming heritage through exhibits, competitions and family activities.
Fair organizers list gate hours of 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Anyone travelling through downtown Orono on Saturday morning should expect the busiest conditions shortly before and after the 10:30 a.m. parade start.
Visitors are encouraged to confirm event schedules with the fair before travelling because individual activities may have separate times or admission requirements.
