Drivers in Courtice, Newcastle and Enniskillen should prepare for lane reductions and short road closures as Clarington begins a multi-community road rehabilitation program.
The Municipality of Clarington says the work began during the week of September 8 and is expected to continue until the end of October. The schedule is approximate and may change because of weather or other construction conditions.
Roads included in the Clarington work
In Courtice, the project covers Sandringham Drive between Regional Highway 2 and Trulls Road; Strathallan Drive from Sandringham Drive to Trulls Road; Hathaway Drive from Robert Adams Drive to White Cliffe Drive; and White Cliffe Drive and Court between Hathaway Drive and Robert Adams Drive.
Other Courtice locations include Halstead Road between White Cliffe Drive and Hathaway Drive, as well as Baseline Road from Trulls Road to Courtice Road.
In Newcastle, the affected locations are Raymond Court, Vincent Court and Port Darlington Road at Milligan Street. In Enniskillen, crews will work on Old Scugog Road from Regional Road 3 to Salter Court.
What residents can expect
The rehabilitation program includes removing and replacing surface asphalt and base asphalt where required. Crews may also replace concrete sidewalks and curbs, pave roads, restore shoulders, complete ditching and repair boulevards.
Clarington says lane reductions and short-term closures may be used during working hours. Garbage and recycling collection and regular deliveries are expected to continue while construction is underway.
Residents should expect temporary access changes as work moves through each street and should follow posted traffic controls. The municipality advises motorists to allow extra time, reduce speed near crews and use an alternate route when a short closure is active.
The work forms part of Clarington’s 2026 pavement rehabilitation program. The municipality’s budget identified road resurfacing and related repairs as part of its investment in road and stormwater infrastructure.
