A national recall involving scented room sprays sold exclusively through Walmart Canada may affect shoppers in Durham Region.

The Godrej Aer spray recall was issued by Health Canada on Aug. 26 after regulators determined that six varieties of the 300-millilitre aerosol product do not meet Canadian labelling requirements.

Health Canada says consumers should stop using the affected sprays immediately and return them to a Walmart Canada store for a refund. The products were distributed nationally, although the recall notice does not identify how many were sold specifically in Durham Region.

Six Godrej Aer spray scents are recalled

The recall covers six Godrej Aer Spray varieties packaged in pressurized metal containers.

The affected products are Cool Surf Blue, Fresh Lush Green, Petal Crush Pink, Musk After Smoke, Morning Misty Meadows and Violet Valley Bloom.

Health Canada lists the following UPC codes:

  • Cool Surf Blue: 8 901023 032622
  • Fresh Lush Green: 8 901023 032660
  • Petal Crush Pink: 8 901023 032684
  • Musk After Smoke: 8 901023 032608
  • Morning Misty Meadows: 8 901023 032646
  • Violet Valley Bloom: 8 901023 032585

Consumers checking products at home should compare both the scent name and UPC with the official recall information before returning an item.

Why Health Canada issued the recall

The Godrej Aer spray recall is related to labelling and packaging rather than a reported defect with the spray itself.

According to Health Canada, the products do not comply with labelling requirements under the Consumer Chemicals and Containers Regulations, 2001, which fall under the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act.

The federal agency warns that missing required safety information could lead to unintentional exposure and result in serious illness or injury, including death.

As of Aug. 20, the company had received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada connected with the recalled products.

More than 10,000 units sold in Canada

Health Canada says 10,874 units of the affected Godrej Aer sprays were sold in Canada between January and August 2026.

The sprays were sold only through Walmart Canada and were manufactured in India.

Verka Food International Ltd. of Surrey, British Columbia, is listed as the Canadian importer, while Godrej Consumer Products Ltd. of Mumbai, India, is listed as the manufacturer.

Because the recall was distributed nationally, Durham shoppers who purchased one of the listed scents from Walmart should check the product before using it again.

The federal notice does not confirm which individual Walmart stores stocked affected units, so it should not be assumed that every Durham location sold them.

What consumers should do

Health Canada advises consumers to stop using recalled Godrej Aer spray immediately and return the product to Walmart Canada for a refund.

Consumers should not sell, give away or otherwise redistribute the recalled sprays. The Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled consumer products from being redistributed, sold or given away in Canada.

Anyone seeking more information can contact Verka Food International at 1-877-710-8081, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Pacific Time, Monday through Friday.

Consumers can also report health or safety incidents involving a consumer product directly to Health Canada through its Consumer Product Incident Report system.

The Godrej Aer spray recall remains national in scope, and Durham residents who have purchased any of the six affected fragrances should follow Health Canada’s instructions and return the product rather than continuing to use it.
