Lakeview Park construction is continuing across Oshawa’s waterfront destination as the city replaces aging pathways and completes accessibility upgrades throughout the park.
The City of Oshawa says the renewal project is intended to address aging infrastructure, improve safety and accessibility and reduce ongoing maintenance needs at one of the city’s largest parks.
Several areas of interlocking-stone pathways are being removed and replaced with wider asphalt surfaces.
Lakeview Park Construction Moves Into Second Phase
Phase 2 of the project began this summer and includes pathway replacement along the lakefront as well as around the gazebo and picnic pavilion.
The city says cyclists and pedestrians should expect disruptions to paved areas west of the playground and Jubilee Pavilion while construction is underway.
The pathway upgrades are designed to improve connectivity, safety and access along Oshawa’s waterfront.
Accessibility Improvements Underway
Accessibility work at the Jubilee Pavilion has already been completed, according to the city.
Additional improvements include grading and resurfacing around buildings and accessibility work near the gazebo.
The broader project also includes provisions for supplemental washroom facilities.
Work Expected to Finish This Fall
Construction began in April and is scheduled to continue through October 2026.
The city says Phase 2 is expected to continue through late August, while the overall Lakeview Park renewal is planned for completion this fall. Weather conditions or unforeseen construction issues could affect that timeline.
Visitors can continue using Lakeview Park, although temporary closures and pathway disruptions may occur as work moves through different areas.
The Lakeview Park construction project is part of Oshawa’s broader investment in improving safety, accessibility and recreational infrastructure across the city.
