A Durham Gas Price Increase is expected Wednesday as fuel prices rise sharply across the Greater Toronto Area after drivers received some relief at the pumps last week.
According to fuel-price prediction website affordableenergy.ca, regular gasoline in the GTA is expected to rise by six cents per litre overnight.
That would bring the predicted price of regular fuel to approximately $1.689 per litre on Wednesday.
Regular gas rises six cents
Most of southern Ontario is expected to see regular gasoline increase by six or seven cents per litre, depending on location.
Across much of the region, prices are forecast to reach approximately $1.689 per litre.
Ottawa is expected to see a seven-cent increase, bringing regular fuel to about $1.699 per litre.
For Durham Region drivers, the GTA forecast means stations in communities such as Oshawa, Whitby, Ajax and Pickering could also see prices move higher, although individual station prices may vary.
Premium fuel also increasing
Premium gasoline is also forecast to become more expensive Wednesday.
Prices are expected to rise by between five and seven cents per litre across southern Ontario.
Depending on location, premium fuel could cost between approximately $1.989 and $2.009 per litre.
In the Greater Toronto Area, premium is forecast to increase by six cents to around $2.009 per litre.
Diesel faces largest jump
Diesel drivers could face the biggest increase.
The forecast calls for diesel prices to rise by between 10 and 12 cents per litre across southern Ontario.
In the GTA, diesel is expected to jump by 12 cents, bringing the predicted price to approximately $2.209 per litre.
That represents a significantly larger overnight increase than the change expected for regular or premium gasoline.
National average moving higher
The national average price for regular gasoline is forecast to reach approximately $1.759 per litre Wednesday.
That would represent an increase of about 5.9 cents compared with Tuesday.
Among the cities included in the forecast, Vancouver is expected to have the highest regular gasoline price at approximately $2.089 per litre following an eight-cent overnight increase.
North Bay is forecast to have the lowest price among the listed cities at approximately $1.629 per litre.

The Durham Gas Price Increase comes only days after southern Ontario motorists benefited from falling fuel prices.
Drivers who need to fill their tanks may want to compare local prices before purchasing fuel, as individual stations can adjust prices differently.
