Residents across Durham Region can look forward to a beautiful summer day on Saturday, July 11, as sunshine returns and humidity levels ease following several days of hot and unsettled weather.
According to Environment Canada, much of southern Ontario, including Oshawa, Whitby, Ajax, Pickering, Clarington, Brock, Scugog, and Uxbridge, is expected to enjoy mainly sunny skies with daytime temperatures remaining close to seasonal averages.
The forecast calls for a high of approximately 28°C, while the humidex will make it feel closer to 31°C during the afternoon. Although it will still feel warm, the humidity is expected to be noticeably lower than earlier in the week, providing more comfortable conditions for outdoor activities.
The day will begin with bright, sunny skies across Durham Region and the Greater Toronto Area, making it an ideal morning for walking, cycling, visiting local parks, or attending community events.
Sunshine is expected to continue throughout the afternoon, with no significant chance of rain in the forecast. The stable weather will provide welcome relief after recent days that brought showers, thunderstorms, and periods of high humidity to parts of southern Ontario.
The pleasant conditions are expected to benefit many of the outdoor festivals, sporting events, farmers’ markets, and community celebrations taking place throughout Durham Region this weekend.
Despite the more comfortable weather, Environment Canada advises residents to continue taking precautions while spending extended periods outdoors. The UV index is forecast to reach the “very high” category, increasing the risk of sunburn during the middle of the day.
Health officials recommend applying sunscreen regularly, wearing sunglasses and lightweight protective clothing, and drinking plenty of water to stay hydrated while enjoying outdoor activities.
As the sun sets, skies are expected to remain clear across Durham Region. Overnight temperatures will cool to approximately 14°C in many communities, providing comfortable sleeping conditions after sunset.
The pleasant weather is expected to continue into Sunday, July 12, with another sunny day forecast. Temperatures will climb slightly to around 29°C, while dry conditions are expected to remain in place across much of southern Ontario.
Looking further ahead, forecasters say warmer weather will gradually return early next week. Daytime highs are expected to reach the low 30s by Monday and Tuesday in parts of southern Ontario, signalling another period of typical midsummer heat.
For now, Saturday offers an excellent opportunity for residents to enjoy one of the most comfortable weather days of the season before hotter conditions return.
Environment Canada encourages residents to continue monitoring local forecasts for the latest weather updates throughout the weekend.
