Brock Township Council has taken a significant step toward revitalizing the local downtown area by officially approving a Conditional Land Sale Agreement for the Lower Brock downtown properties. The decision was made during the April 13, 2026, Council Meeting, where legislators passed By-Law 2026-037. This by-law authorizes the conveyance of specific municipal lands, effectively clearing the way for the Township to proceed with the transaction and the subsequent development phase. This decision marks a pivotal moment for the municipality, setting the stage for modernization and growth in the heart of the community.

The move to sell the land comes after the Township issued a Request for Expressions of Interest (RFEI) to potential developers. Through this competitive process, a preferred proponent was successfully identified. Township officials have indicated that this selected proponent’s vision for the site is closely aligned with the community’s established goals. The primary objective of this partnership is to foster a vibrant and sustainable downtown core that serves the needs of local residents and businesses for years to come. By leveraging private investment, the Township aims to stimulate economic activity and create a dynamic destination.

A central component of the proposed redevelopment plan is the creation of a new Town Square. This feature is expected to act as a focal point for the downtown area, providing a dedicated space for public gathering and community events. The square is envisioned as a hub for social interaction, potentially hosting seasonal festivals and markets. To ensure that residents are fully informed about the scope and design of these changes, the Township is prioritizing public engagement. The administration recognizes the importance of sharing detailed information regarding how the Lower Brock area will be transformed.

In an effort to maintain transparency and gather feedback, the Township will be hosting a public open house dedicated to the project. This event is designed to provide the community with an in-depth look at the proposed redevelopment. Attendees will have the opportunity to review the specific plans for the Lower Brock properties and gain a better understanding of how the new Town Square will integrate with the existing downtown infrastructure. The feedback gathered during this session will be instrumental in refining the final design.

The public open house is scheduled to take place on Thursday, April 30, 2026. The session will run from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., offering a flexible window for working residents to attend. The venue for the meeting has been set at the Uxbridge Seniors Centre, which is located at 75 Marietta Drive in Uxbridge. This location was chosen to accommodate a large number of community members and facilitate an open dialogue regarding the upcoming construction and development.

The formal portion of the evening will commence at 6:15 p.m. with a brief presentation. This address will be jointly delivered by the mayor and the developer, providing an overview of the project’s timeline and benefits. Following this introduction, the developer plans to present preliminary visual renderings. These images will give the public their first concrete look at the architectural style and layout of the new buildings and public spaces, bridging the gap between concept and reality.

After the initial presentations conclude, the format will shift to a more interactive session. Attendees will be invited to circulate throughout the room and visit various information stations set up by the project team. These stations will cover different aspects of the redevelopment, allowing residents to ask specific questions and speak directly with project representatives. This structure ensures that community members can engage one-on-one with the experts involved in the planning process.

Township staff are encouraging all interested residents to participate in this event to learn more about the next steps for the Lower Brock redevelopment. For those who cannot attend in person, the Township has committed to making the information accessible. Following the open house, a press release summarizing the discussion and copies of the presentation materials will be made available to the public, ensuring that the entire community remains informed as the project moves forward.
